With no ArtPrize this year, you may be itching to attend an outdoor art exhibit one of these fine fall days or evenings. Scratch that itch with Grand Haven’s ArtWalk. Celebrating its 10th year of bringing the free walkable art show to locations in downtown Grand Haven, this year’s exhibition takes place Sept. 17 – Oct. 7.
ArtWalk is an annual collaboration of artists, local businesses and members of the lakeshore community in a collective celebration of art. Artists from the local area and beyond, participate in an art competition in the following categories: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture (3D) and specialty media.
Along with daily public judging and juried voting, ArtWalk boasts special events that highlight the artists, venues and friends of ArtWalk. There is a special hands-on art day for kids of all ages, free food and live music; 4th grade field trip to experience performance art; a youth competition for artists ranging in age from zero to 18; a musical concert at the new Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium; and a host of special events at the Loutit District Library.
