Muskegon Civic Theatre has named directors for its 2019-2020 season.
Kirk Wahamaki, MCT’s artistic director, will head the company’s Sept. 13-28 production of the comedy “The 39 Steps.”
Following in October will be Michelle Prince directing “Peter Pan Jr.,” MCT’s offering for The Penguin Project. The Penguin Projects affords young people with special needs an opportunity to participate in live theatre. “Peter Pan Jr.” will run Oct. 12 and 13 at the historic Frauenthal Theater in downtown Muskegon.
Leading into the holidays, Jason Bertoia, MCT’s managing director, will direct a musical version of Charles Dickens’ classic yuletide ghost story, “A Christmas Carol.” The show will run Nov. 15 through Dec. 1.
Entering the new year, Andrew Zahrt will direct a Black Box production of the award-winning musical “Fun Home.” The show will be performed Jan. 17-25 at the Frauenthal Theater, with both the performers and audience on stage.
Following in February, Jim Query will direct playwright Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” which is widely considered to be the best American play ever written. “Our Town” will run Feb. 14-29, 2020.
Closing the season April 30 through May 3, Penelope Notter will direct “Mama Mia!,” a jukebox musical featuring songs by the pop group ABBA.
