Extra! Extra! Muskegon Catholic Central to stage ‘Newsies’

x7i5799 xlStarting on the Ides of March, the Theatre Department at Muskegon Catholic Central will perform a musical based on the 1899 Newsboys Strike in New York City.

“Newsies,” a 2012 Broadway hit adapted from the 1992 Disney movie of the same title, will run March 15-23 at MCC’s Nugent Auditorium.
Evening performances will begin at 7 o’clock, with a 1 p.m. matinee scheduled for March 17.

Reserved seats are $10, and a 50-cent processing fee will be added for orders placed by phone. To purchase tickets, call the box office, (231) 291-0398.

Directed and choreographed by Jacqui Robinson, with musical direction by Laura Ogren, “Newsies” is MCC’s 49th spring musical.

The cast includes Christian Gordon, Griffin Michelli, Cole Michelli, Ryan Daniel Hilson, Chandler Bisson, Jack DeLong, Adrianna Espinoza, Frank Espinoza, Mya Gonzalez, Payton Helton, Aiden Kalisz, Brenna Kieft, Alaina Kohley, Logan Kohley, Josie Lindeberg, Elliot Jefferson Riegler, Gabi Tomes, Bailey Williams, Dawson Fisher-Steigman, Casey Cashbaugh, Lindsey Joyce, Q Lorenz, Trevor Hilson, Finn Maschino, Joshua Holden, Samuel Alexander Fedewa, Noah Kennan Jacobs, Ajai MacPherson, Hunter Eugene Schrink, Sarah Staniforth, Solomon M. Robertson, Kameron Willer, Nia Merriweather, Elliot Isaac Kalisz, Amelia Heminger, Megan Marie Spring, Aaron James Barnhill, Samson Robertson and Jack Heminger.

For its Broadway run, “Newsies” was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Choreography and Best Original Score.
