Muskegon Civic Theatre on Aug. 18 will mount one of the most unique fundraisers in its history.
“The Ladies Who Brunch,” a gala combining a brunch buffet with a drag-queen show, will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bella Maria’s Event Center, 513 W. Pontaluna.
Tickets to the event are $50 for individual seats and $400 for a table of eight. They may be purchased by calling the MCT office, (231) 722-3852; or visiting the MCT website, http://www.muskegoncivictheatre.org.
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. The show, which is being produced by the Mona Lake Productions company of community activist, benefactor and Muskegon County Commissioner Bob Scolnik, will be performed by PowerDiva productions.
PowerDiva features drag queens from across the state of Michigan. “The Ladies Who Brunch” will be performed in two sets, with the first set at 11:30 a.m.
MCT is recommending that patrons bring $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills to tip the drag queens.
The brunch will begin at 11 a.m., and include quiche, bacon, breakfast sausage, smoked salmon, chicken Caesar salad, and fresh fruit. A cash bar will include mimosas and what is being called, “the best Bloody Mary ever.”
A silent auction and raffles will operate throughout the event. The auction items include four tickets to the Michigan Irish Music Festival, tickets to Power of the Purse, a kayak being provided by KL Outdoor, and ticket packages for MCT’s upcoming, 2018-2019 season.
All proceeds from “The Ladies Who Brunch,” including tip money, will benefit MCT
