Auditions will be held July 23 and 24 for the first production of Muskegon Civic Theatre’s 2018-2019 season.
Tryouts for “Disenchanted,” a musical comedy whose characters are fairy tale princesses and heroines, will be at 7 p.m.
They will be held in Johnson Hall on the third floor of the Hilt Building portion of the Frauenthal Center in downtown Muskegon.
Auditionees should arrive 15 minutes early, to fill out an audition form and to have their photo taken
If needed, callbacks will be 7 p.m. July 25.
Auditionees will read from the script, and sing a song of their choice. They should bring sheet music for the accompanist. There also will be a dance/movement audition, so auditionees should wear comfortable clothing, dance shoes or shoes that tie.
Rehearsals will begin July 31, running from 7-10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
“Disenchanted” will be staged Sept. 14-29 in the Beardsley Theater.
The show is being directed by Kirk Wahamaki, MCT’s artistic director. Music director is Janie Glerum.
With its book, music and lyrics by Dennis T. Giacino, “Disenchanted” has adult themes suitable for mature audiences.
It is an ensemble show requiring six female performers.
The characters are:
• Snow White
• Sleeping Beauty
• Belle/The Little Mermaid/Rapunzel
• Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbadour
• The Princess Who Kissed the Frog, a role written for an African American performer.
