Muskegon Civic Theatre has cast its January 2018 production of the ice-fishing musical comedy “Guys on Ice.”
Under the direction of Andrew Zahrt and music Janie Glerum, “Guys on Ice” will star Dave Mathews as Lloyd, Andrew Kitchka as Marvin and Colton Hall as Ernie.
The show will run Jan. 19-27 at the Frauenthal Theater. It will be staged as a black-box production, with the actors and audience both on stage.
With its book and lyrics by Fred Alley, and music by James Kaplan, “Guys on Ice” has three characters.
The story centers on Lloyd and Marvin, buddies and ice fisherman from Northern Wisconsin.
Hunkered down in a fishing shanty, Lloyd and Marvin like good bait, cold beer and the Green Bay Packers professional football team. They talk and sing about life, love and the one that got away.
Marvin is awaiting his opportunity to appear on a cable TV fishing show and share secrets of his life on the lake. Lloyd ponders a recent squabble with his wife concerning plans to spend their anniversary at Lambeau Field, home of the Packers.
Marvin and Lloyd regularly try to deal with a third fisherman, Ernie the Moocher who has a tendency to say exactly the wrong thing.
