MUSKEGON — The holiday production of Muskegon Community College’s Center for Theater, “Once Upon a Time … Stories of the Season,” will be Nov. 30 through Dec. 3.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. in Overbrook Theater on the MCC campus.
Directed by MCC theatre instructor Tom Harryman, “Once Upon a Time … ” features stories adapted for the stage by Harryman and his cast.
The cast includes MCC student actors Sylvia DeBruyn, Kendra Irvine, Joy Lamphere, Adrianne Lewis, Luke A. Lewis, Mark Lewis, Shayne Miller, Leona A. Perigard and Aaron Ponce.
Featured stories include “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg; “The Origin of the Candy Cane” by Lori Walburg and adapted by Irvin; “Hanukkah v. Christmas” adapted by Adrianne Lewis from the story by Dr. Steve Sultanoff; “A Christmas Apart” by Leona Perigard; “The Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Andersen; “How Maui Snared the Sun,” a traditional story as told by Carolyn McVickar Edwards and adapted by Harryman and the ensemble; and “Der Belznickel,” a traditional story as told by S.E. Schlosser and adapted by DeBruyn.
Additional stories “Angels in Cincinnati,” “Black Friday Blitz” and “Mistletoe” were respectively written by Mark Lewis, Ponce and Miller.
Assistant director is MCC student Director Amber Parker. Technical assistance is being given by Sheila Wahamaki, Brian Goodman and Susan Eyler.
Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 21 at the Overbrook Theater Box Office.
They are $10 for the public and $5 for MCC students, staff and faculty.
