Whitehall High School will present “Disney’s High School Musical on Stage” at 7 p.m. Nov. 17-19.
Being mounted in the Whitehall High School Auditorium, the show is based on the Disney Channel’s smash hit movie “High School Musical.”
The film premiered in 2006 and was the Disney Channel’s most watched film of that year.
“High School Musical” follows a romance between two high school juniors from rival cliques: Troy Bolton (played by Caleb Beeghly), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (Randi Clark), a shy transfer student who excels in mathematics and science.
They try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and as a result, divide the school. Despite other students’ attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry. They inspire others not to “stick to the status quo.”
High school diva Sharpay Evans (Sky Harsch), assisted by her twin brother Ryan (Andrew Tallquist), will do anything to sabotage the friendship between Troy and Gabriella. and also get a lead in the school musical.
Other cast members include “the jocks” played Jack Zwemer, Ryan Bouman, Jaeven Aylor, and Alec Million; “the brainiacs” played by Anneliese Vogler, Rhabecca Spicklemire, MiKayla Varso, and Emily Worline, William Shields as Jack Scott, Andrew Britton as Coach Bolton and Lynsie Brandenberg as drama teacher Ms. Darbus.
Whitehall’s production includes 55 cast and crew, plus special appearances from Whitehall’s varsity cheer team and members of the Whitehall marching band.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
