Movie actor Richard Riehle to appear Sept. 18 in Muskegon

MUSKEGON — At 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, veteran movie actor Richard Riehle will appear live at the Harbor Cinema, 1937 Lakeshore.

Riehle’s appearance here will be complemented by a screening of “Office Space,” director Mike Judge’s 1999 American cult-classic comedy in which he performs.

A sendup of the 9-to-5 working life, “Office Space” stars Jennifer Anniston, Gary Cole and Ron Livingston.

One of America’s most recognizable character actors, Riehle has amassed more than 300 film and TV credits.

He is particularly is known to West Michigan audiences for his roles in two independent films that were primarily shot in the region, “WaterWalk” (as a turtle hunter) and “Pilot Error” (as an editor).

At the Harbor he will sign autographs, and screen a reel of classic scenes, and reminisce on his career.

A Wisconsin native and graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Riehle has worked with such stars as Harrison Ford, Cicely Tyson, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Meg Ryan, John Malkovich, Katherine Hepburn, and Samuel L. Jackson; and such directors like Martin Scorcese, Woody Allen, Gary Sinise, and Rob Reiner.

After beginning his career on Michigan’s Meadowbrook Theatre stage and starring at major theaters across the country, Riehle broke in to Hollywood with John Wayne in 1975’s “Rooster Cogburn.”

Among his many films have been “Glory,” “The Fugitive,” “Free Willy,” “Casino,” “Fried Green Tomatoes” and “Of Mice and Men.”

Riehle has appeared in such TV series such as “Grounded For Life,” “Star Trek,” “The West Wing,” “Ally McBeal” and “Two and A Half Men.”
