Muskegon Civic Theatre has cast the first production of its 2016-2017 season.
Heading director Kirk Wahamaki’s ensemble for playwright Leslie Darbon’s stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s mystery novel “A Murder is Announced” will be Martha Kallenbach as Dame Agatha’s iconic super sleuth, Miss Marple.
Also in the cast are Robin Willi, Cynthia Bates Twining, Helen Sherman, Kristopher Arnold, Allison Gilde, Katherine Smith, Vici Everitt, Jacob S. Davis, Joe Hasper, Jason Bertoia and TyJuan Thirdgill.
The show will run Sept. 16 through Oct. 1 at the 170-seat Beardsley Theater in downtown Muskegon.
In “A Murder is Announced,” a newspaper runs an item stating the time and place of a murder that has not yet been committed. That omission is soon rectified.
The characters then show up at a Christie staple, a Victorian mansion. Ensuing is a singular Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death, a determined Inspector, and Miss Marple to figure the whole thing out.
