The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, a touring company based in West Michigan, will present Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the Rose Theater at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, 300 East Crystal Lake Road in Twin Lake, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. Tickets are $20.00 if purchased ahead, and $25.00 at the door. Groundling tickets, for audience members who stand around the stage just as audiences did in Shakespeare’s own time period, are $15.00. Tickets are available exclusively from Blue Lake Public Radio and are available by phone at 1-800-889-9258. All ticket proceeds go to benefit Blue Lake Public Radio.

The Rose is one of a very few reconstructions of Elizabethan playhouses in the world. During the summer, it is primarily used by the campers who attend the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company is the only group that does public performances in the space. This is a unique opportunity to Shakespeare performed in the theatre architecture for which he originally wrote his plays.

As You Like It follows the adventures of Rosalind, a young noblewoman who is banished from her uncle’s dukedom, and goes into exile in the Forest of Arden. Disguised as a boy, Rosalind meets up with a cast of colorful characters who inhabit the forest. The play is filled with music and lively humor. Pigeon Creek’s cast includes actors Chaz Albright, Kathleen Bode, Michael Dodge, Brooke Heinz, Kat Hermes, Scott Lange, Chad Marriott, Katherine Mayberry, Bridget McCarthy, Eric Orive, Sarah Stark, Julia Steudle, and Scott Wright, as well as Actors’ Equity Association guest artist Brian Webb Russell.
